If you upload a file called, say, test[1].pdf - by adding a { { test[1].pdf } } link and then clicking it, and then editing the page to upload the file - then you can't link to it by saying [ [ test[1].pdf ] ] - it isn't linked.

What is the syntax here? Do you need to escape the square brackets in the name, or are they just not allowed?

The development version (time for a release soon, I guess) now supports single square and curly brackets in the page names. There is no way to escape the characters inside links, so you can't have double square or curly brackets in a link (although it's still possible to create such a page by editing the URL). – Radomir Dopieralski
